Why the woods? What do they represent/ What are the woods in other famous?
I believe the woods were chosen because of the vast and endless adventures you can have inside of them. I believe they represent the twists and turns in life, and are endlessly overlapping situations we encounter. The woods are also famous in Snow White where the witch (I believe it’s a witch lives.) The woods are supposed to be a dark, scary place, which is why I believe the villain was placed their.
Some of the characters in ITW are driven by uncontrollable desires? Which characters? What kinds of desires drive them? What happens as failure to control these desires
The two characters that have uncontrollable desires are the wolf as well as the baker’s wife. The wolf is driven by hunger (though he is slightly sexual about it), and the baker’s wife by sex. These respective desires lead the wolf ultimately to death, and the baker’s wife to have sex with the prince trying to save Repunzel.
What was your favorite song/character and scene in into the woods. Describe them in detail
My favorite song and scene from Into the Woods is the one with the wolf and Little Red Riding Hood in which he tries to convince her to stay outside a little longer, as she is on her way to her grandmother’s house. I love this scene because of the ironic undertone. You have a menacing wolf, who is this ferocious hunting animal in real life, and many other stories (such as The Three Little Pigs), yet in this particular scene is very cunning, somewhat nice and very suave to get his way. This reminded me a lot of myself.
